Bio:

Investigating fragile connections of events through tentative metaphors, Xu’s work grows from a persistent need to understand how time and memory operate as systems of order imposed on the body, and moments when those systems falter on an physiological level. Working primarily with installation, sculpture, performance and image, their practice seek rooms for ambiguity, using translucency as a tool to arrange confusions that lie beneath the complex causations of everyday life. By reconstructing physiological experiences of”interruptions”,they observe how misalignments between internal and external orders distort one’s formation of self-identity and belonging.

Sal Xu currently lives and works in between Brooklyn, NY, Minneapolis, MN and Providence, RI, where they recently received a BFA in Sculpture at Rhode Island School of Design.
